Competitive Weekend at Florida Winter Tour at Orlando, FL

March 25, 2014

Orsolon Racing team from Miami, showed up at the last round of the Florida Winter Tour with five drivers. American drivers Dan Roeper in Seniors and Dimitrie Vagios in Masters, with this being his first big race. Colombian drivers Chevy Rodriguez in Mini Max and Camilo Matiz in DD2 Masters. In DD2 Seniors with Kevin Ludi from Switzerland.

Chevy Rodriguez in Mini Max, had a long week of testing with both Tony Kart and Birel chassis which we decided to use the Birel. Chevy had an impressive qualifying session being 3rd for Saturday in the 38 gokart field. Unfortunately Chevy crashed on the start of the main event race and flipped over, not finishing the race. On Sunday, the young Colombian qualified in the second row again, but this time in 4th. In the main event he got involved in a mess on the start and did an impressive job coming from the back in 38th to finish 13th.

Dan Roeper in Seniors qualified 6th for Saturday, 4th in the prefinal, and 5th in the final. It was a real success, since it is hard to reach top 5, especially on a consist basis. On Sunday, Dan qualified 4th again. With a nice battle he managed to finish 3rd in the prefinal and 4th in the main event.

Kevin Ludi had a good week of testing in DD2 Sr. He qualified 5th for Saturday. In a competitive prefinal, he ended up 6th and in the main event he managed to finish 8th. On Sunday, the driver from Switzerland qualified 10th and drove really strong, finishing 7th in the final race.

Camillo Matiz qualified 3rd in DD2 Masters for Saturday's race, but he got involved in a mess on the start of the main race and fell all the way to the back but still managed to finish 5th. Camillo qualified 4th for Sunday, ended up 5th in the prefinal and 4th in the main race.

Dimitrie Vagios in Masters Class, running a big race for the first time, had an big improvement during the week and qualified 10th for Saturday's race. He managed to finish 6th in the final race which surprised everyone. On Sunday the Greek/American driver qualified 9th and ended up 10th in the final race.

It was a really good and solid event for the team. Some drivers had some ups and downs but all definitely had good speed.
